After CLOSELY READING the article from Atlantic Monthly, “Poverty is Literally Making People Sick Because They Can’t Afford Food”, post a short rhetorical analysis.
You are analyzing the rhetoric used in the article. You are NOT summarizing the article, or posting your opinion about the article. If you do this, you will get 0 points. Is the author using pathos, logos, kairos or ethos? Is he using some examples of each? What about “rhetorical devices” Who is his audience? Is there something that the author wants you to believe? Does he do a good job of persuading you about what he wants to think? What about the pictures, subtitles, titles? Are they designed to persuade you about something? Think CRITICALLY about the article. Read it a couple times. Annotate and highlight. Finally, look closely at the sample rhetorical analysis I gave you with the article “What Drives Success?” Read over this closely. Read over my notes on the sample essay (although my notes are sloppy). Think about what the author of the essay included in her essay. You may want to include items like hers. You need 2-3 good sized paragraphs for your mini-essay.
