The article identifies eight areas of actual or potential conflict over land: 1) Senkaku (Diaoyu) Islands, East China Sea; 2) Kuril Islands; 3) the Korean peninsula; 4) Western Sahara; 5) Antarctica; 6) Israel/Palestine; 7) Somaliland, and 8) Taiwan.
For your paper, you are to read the article and prepare an essay selecting one (1) of the eight (8) areas, Your paper should provide a historical background to the issue, an examination of its current status, efforts previously made to resolve the issue, and your estimate of the ultimate resolution of the problem.
Your paper should be typewritten, using 8 ½ X 11-inch paper, doubled-spaced, with one-inch margins all around, no title page, your name and the name of your essay at the top of the first page, pages numbered at the bottom, use Times New Roman, 12-point font. While I do not require any specific length, I expect that it should take between five- and ten-pages to discuss the material thoroughly.
