In August of 2019, the Business Roundtable released a statement on The Purpose of a Corporation signed by 181 CEO’s from around the world. It quickly become known at the Purpose Statement. This statement formally set a new vision for corporate action and drew a lot of attention from media, businesses, and nonprofits alike, touting a commitment to lead their companies for the benefit of all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
