Key to Business Plan Success. 5
In this modern age, a higher level of awareness has been achieved of issues that were initially not considered as a business strategy or played second fiddle. This is particularly true of issues related to environmental sustainability. These issues are a concern since in this age the value of the firm might be tied to its environment; there is also the presence of legislation that regulates emissions and waste disposal. The need for a higher level of transparency today required of organizations by the various concerned agents also necessitate a proper look on environmental sustainability (Bishop, A. 2008).
The business plan is to provide a business model that will provide energy consultancy to corporations that are interested in pursuing the use of green energy and energy conservation with the aim of reducing emissions of green house gasses. The business aims to suggest ways to reduce organization’s emissions and, as a result, its carbon prints through the utilization of renewable energy to power the needs of the organization and a way to implement these stratagems. The business will aim at providing an immediate solution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and also improve green credentials for the client organization.
I hold a personal interest in the project as I believe in the conservation of the environment. My belief is that every individual should consider the impact of his or her activities on the environment that houses him or her and possibly future generations. As a manager, the project provides an opportunity to manage individuals with the aim of accomplishing set objectives. The business plan necessitates the amalgamation of professionals with different specialties and skills and, therefore, there is a need to assign the appropriate tasks to the appropriate personnel. The task requires managerial skills that I possess. The business model will have the following objectives as the center of its product, which is, energy consultancy.
Objectives
• To measure and define an initial baseline carbon footprint of an organization, (the reference footprint), from which the carbon reduction activities will be measured.
• To assess ways to reduce an organization’s carbon footprint through avoiding emissions, reducing emissions and substituting conventional power systems with green power technology.
• To influence the practice of best efficiency, encourage innovation, and inspire behavior change, as a means to mitigate the unavoidable emissions.
Expected Outcomes or Alternatives
There is a need to curb the level of emissions in organizations through the practicing of a proper form of energy production and more efficient production techniques. The business plan brings forth the use of renewable power such as wind power, solar power, and hydroelectric power. This reduces reliance on fossil fuel for energy needs for corporations and as a result, there are outcomes that are to be expected and alternatives to be considered.
One of the expected outcomes of the proposal arises when a suggested project, such as the use of wind power is deemed viable when the resources needed to set up a wind power production site can be raised, together with the incentives offered by the government through low-interest loans. The outcome would be if the client corporation would consider carrying out the project using internal teams after the strategy has been provided or if the business will allow energy solutions to carry out the project.
Another alternative to be considered is the fact that the adopted energy solution would necessitate the adaptation the client organization’s power systems to that of the adopted power source, such as a conversion of systems to uses wind power. The outcomes bring about a consideration of alternatives such as whether to specialize to just consultancy or also explore the market that is created. An alternative would be to create a department that can also tackle the adaptation of these systems. The result would be a business model that offers a complete package to a client. The business could also take the contract and then subcontract it to a company that can provide the technical services needed.
Key to Business Plan Success
Production of electricity, especially from power plants that are coal-fired, is one of the major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. There is a need to develop systems that will provide renewable power such as wind turbines or hydroelectric power plants. Wind power is a system that is easily under the control of an organization and can, therefore, be pursued. One of the keys to the success of the business plan is the consideration and pursuit of wind power as an offered alternative to the client organization’s source of power (Bishop, A. 2008).
The business plan is viable since the resources needed to set up a wind power production site can be raised, together with the incentives offered by the government through low-interest loans. The main challenge will be to adapt the organization’s power systems to that of wind power, and that can be pursued with the appropriate technical services being provided for internally or subcontracted.
Carbon dioxide emissions and the carbon footprint of corporations are relatively large, and the implementation of clean alternative sources of power, such as wind power, in an organization will lead to a decrease in reliance on fossil fuels for electric power and will ultimately lower the amount of resources spent on power by a client organization. It will also increase the appeal to investors who are interested in environmental sustainability. The result will be an increase in potential investors. It is clear that the possible contracts carried out will be carried out in cooperation with the staff of the client corporations, the business plan will then have to plan for the possibility of the need to work with different personalities and the need for teamwork. It is possible that a team will be selected by the client’s board of directors; the support of the administration of the organization will go a long way to ensuring the success of the project. The meaning of this is that there will be a need to have belief in the program from an organization for it to start (Bishop, A. 2008).
Due to a number of resources needed, there will be a need for proper accounting, there will be a need for regular meetings to determine how the specific projects being carried out by the company are faring. The projects will be sensitive in nature and will require skilled personnel and supervisors to prevent challenges from arising.
Financial reporting will be necessary to inform the board of the clients of how the finances received were used. This will also help in accounting for the organization.

It is my belief that every individual should consider the impact of his or her activities on the environment that houses him or her and possibly future generations. As a manager, the project provides an opportunity to manage individuals with the aim of accomplishing set objectives. The business plan necessitates the amalgamation of professionals with different specialties and skills and, therefore, there is a need to assign the appropriate tasks to the appropriate personnel. The task requires managerial skills that I possess through my previous position as a manager. The necessary skills needed for the analysis of power requirements will be met by qualified personnel in their various fields of study (Ferris, G. R., Buckley, M. R., & Fedor, D. B. 2002).
A clear opportunity in the industry that the business will operate is that it is not saturated, with only a few businesses offering the same product. The main competitors and threat in the market are the internal departments that can be set up by the organizations themselves that can accomplish the same task and at a lower cost. Despite this, the business will clearly provide a more focused and detailed solution to the problem than an internal department can, and this is a clear strength.
The reduction of carbon footprint improves the efficiency of an industry and improves productivity through minimizing and reduction of chemical wastes that are not environmentally friendly and this provides a clear rational for providing this type of product. The plan uses the skill acquired during my course work of planning, strategizing, personnel management, and financial management. The future will see more stringent controls on emissions, and that means more organizations seeking better energy sources and, therefore, a growing market. (Carlson, K. 2010).
