Have Chicana concerns since the Chicano Movement changed? Why or why not?
What is unique about the definitions of Chicana feminism articulated by Hurtado’s sample that is not captured by Segura and Pesquera’s participants?

I personally feel that those concerns have not changed since the Chicano movement, as Hispanic I have faced those struggle every day especially on the business world. Society acceptance has change tremendously since the 1960’s and 1970’s, having a black president back them was something imaginable, but something that has not changed is that Hispanic women still a minority within a minority and many of our issues have yet not to be address, such as how we are underrepresented within the government, not been consider for high level positions within a company, and also how we are not expected to make a decent living with our incomes. Most of Hispanic women’s earnings are only seem as the extra income within a household not as the main income to support their family. I have to say that those issues can be contributed to the fact that our Hispanic culture does not support women to their full potential. Our Hispanic culture expects us to be the submissive the traditional stay home mom, not an educated/professional woman who potentially can make more money than her husband. Therefore, we cannot completely blame it to the American society but part to our own culture and the lack of high educational expectations towards our daughters.
Pesuera’s participants were educated women that in some way were part of different Chicana Women organizations, and felt strongly about representing Chicana’s rights within America’s society. They wanted to create awareness in a more macro level than Hurtado’s participants. Persuea’s article breaks down Chicana feminism on three different levels Chicana Liberal Feminism, Chicana Insurgent Feminism, and Chicana Cultural National Feminism, which on the other hand Hurtado’s participants defined Chicana Feminism not as an organization fighting for equality but as a way to live, breaking away from cultural traditions. How each of them as individuals, away from being part of any movement, was able to identify herself as part of the Chicana’s Movement. How mothers, sisters, and even their own fathers had influence them to become feminist and succeed within a society that does not expect them to do it. They became who they are thanks to their own family not by any government policies
