These are one-page analysis assignments that test your ability to closely read a text. These are not formal essays, but informal, though still exact, investigations of a short story, essay, or poem’s main ideas and literary conventions.
Feel free to be as creative as you want to be–for example, you can bring in scripture, a movie, or life moment to compare and contrast with an element in the text–as long as you focus on specifics in the work of literature. Do not be vague.
