You have the option to complete a short paper for the points summarizing and critiquing a magazine, newspaper, or online article on a contemporary topic in biology. You must submit a full citation and web link or .pdf or the paper to your instructor for approval in advance of the due date. The paper must be at least two pages in length, single-spaced, #11 font, and include a brief summary and longer critique of the article. The summary should be no more than two paragraphs in length, and the rest of the paper is a critique of two or more concepts, methods used, results or conclusions from the article. Be specific in your critiques, and reference the article when critiquing. Something like “I thought the article was well written” is not enough. You must be specific about why you thought the article was well written. Also, I suggest you choose something that you took issue with—a method used or result or conclusion reached—and give me the reason(s) why you thought what the authors did or wrote should be critiqued. The article must a be at least five pages in length, cannot be a synopsis or summary of an article, and published within the last 5 years.
