Introduction to Atmosphere, Insolation, & Temperature Forum Assignment Instructions
Complete the following for your initial post (both parts A & B; worth 15 points):
A. You’ve learned about how ozone forms and why it is important to our atmosphere. What is meant by the “hole in the ozone layer” and what role have chloroflurocarbons (CFCs) played in this? Lastly, think geographically – where is the “hole in the ozone layer” and why is it there? You may need to perform some outside research for the “why” portion. Be sure to cite all resources (including the textbooks if applicable) at the end of your post using MLA citation format.
Extra Credit Opportunity (optional; worth 2 points) – find and summarize a recent (within the last year), academic/scientific, peer-reviewed article on the ozone layer. This should be 100 words minimum (in addition to your A & B responses). The CoA Library has free databases you can search for and filter out peer-reviewed articles. Send me an email if you want/need more information on how to locate these sources. Include a link to the article so your instructor and classmates can access it.
B. Based on what you’ve learned in the readings and video this week, describe and explain (in your own words) adiabatic cooling and adiabatic warming. These two concepts are very important in our weather and climate processes, so it is important that you understand each. We will build on these two concepts next week. Be sure to cite all resources (including the textbooks if applicable) at the end of your post using MLA citation format.
Your initial post should be a minimum of 250 words (including both parts A and B)
