Topic A: The Impact of the Cold War in Latin America/Africa/Asia
The twentieth century saw the rise of socialism in much of the developing world as formerly colonized countries saw it as a way to address some of the glaring inequalities. This brought fear to the United States, which saw these countries as a threat to its interests. How did the Cold War policies of the United States and the Soviet Union impact Latin America, Africa, and Asia? Choose at least one of these areas to address, and provide specific examples to support your discussion. What consequences of these policies do we face today?
