An example of this chemical reaction is the reaction to form spherical olive. To make a spherical olive, calcium chloride which dissolves in the olive juice carefully poured into a solution of sodium alginate. When the calcium choride in the olive juice encounter the alginate sodium in the solution, a chemical reaction occurs to form an encapsulating sphere around the juice.
