SARS

The SARS outbreak in South Asia of late 2002-early 2003 almost became a pandemic. In a matter of weeks, it spread to over 37 countries.

Using the South University Online Library and the Internet, do your research on this disease. Based on your research, respond to the following:

• What is the etiologic agent of this disease and why was this discovery surprising?
• What are the preventive and curative methods to treat this disease?
• What precautionary measures did scientists and researchers in the United States take in order to shield the country from a SARS epidemic?
