Do hand sanitizers reduce the spread of diseases on hands?
General Rules: The purpose of this paper is an exercise in researching a specific question and reaching a concrete conclusion backed by solid evidence.
There is no minimum or maximum page limit, but 1-2 pages, double spaced, Times New Roman 12 point font, is a reasonable target.
Papers must be written by only one person, you! Use appropriate formatting.
Civil engineers are expected to communicate professionally with clients, therefore grammar and spelling will form a significant portion of the report grade.
Reference citations of the papers should conform to the official ASCE Authors’ Guide to Journals and Practice Periodicals, which can be found on the ASCE Publications website http://www2.nuk.edu.tw/cee/AuthorGuideJournals_ASCE.pdf
(or http://www.asce.org/Content.aspx?id=29605 ) A complete bibliography must also be included. Papers (1 hardcopy) must be received by the deadline.
Research Paper Guidelines:
1. Each student will be assigned a research topic in a unique area.
2. You will be expected to conduct research in this area using reputable sources
3. You will need to definitively answer your assigned research question to the best your research yields.
4. Some questions will likely yield more discussion than others. The important thing is that your answer is solid, and backed with reliable evidence.
5. In writing this paper, it is important to include your conclusion in your introductory paragraph, and use the remainder of the paper to explain your findings.
6. Excessive poor grammar and/or spelling errors will result in a whole letter grade reduction.
7. Failure to use reputable sources will also result in whole letter grade reductions. Use of sources identified as prohibited below (or a complete omission of References, including in-text citations) will result in a grade of “F” for this project.
8. Questions have been assigned at random. Therefore, if you encounter severe difficulty in research, you may request a new randomly assigned topic one time.
9. It is important to remember that your answer will not be graded on whether or not it is “right” or “wrong”, but rather how well you support your conclusion.
