ANSWER DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1-4
SUBJECT:Do you agree or disagree with this statement (use two sources that support your position and use proper APA format for citations and references): All managers are leaders but not all leaders are managers.
1.RESPOND TO SAVANNAH
All managers are leaders but not all leaders are managers.
No I do not agree with this statement. I dont think that all managers are good leaders. They may be able to manage a company or business but that does not mean they will be able to effectively lead staff. A good leader has qualities that not all have, a few examples include being self aware, they can focus on development of others, they encourage strategic thinking and innovation, they are ethical and civic minded, and the practice effective cross cultural communication. A good manager is also a good leader. I also believe that all leaders are not good managers. Managers have their own special set of skills. To be an effective manager you must have these qualities
While some of these skills may over lap with a good leader there are skills in business management that a leader may not possess. A good way to look at the main difference is that a manager inspires you to complete goals. where as leaders create visions. A manger is much more goal oriented and will help you reach them in the work place. A manager may be more focused on the good of the company as a whole and not lead effectively because they are to focused on the company they may neglect the needs of employees and what they need to be effectively lead.
The 5 Qualities All Successful Leaders Have in CommonThese top leadership qualities are common among successful managers, coaches, and CEOs—and with practice, you can develop these qualities too.Northeastern University Graduate Programs
The leadership trait in most people builds and becomes greater overtime with taking the initiative to do so. There are also some people who are just natural born leaders. It is my belief that you can be a leader and not be in a management position. A leader is someone who always takes the initiative and invests a great effort to accomplish the company’s vision (Duggal, 2022). This means that when employees are needed to help their coworkers they step up and do so. Not only do they step up and help others they can be depended on to share input and feedback that will help their company stay successful. Leaders can influence people at every level of the organization (Maxwell, n.d.). You can be at the bottom of a corporate team and still be considered a leader. There are times when management leans on those who have good leadership qualities for tasks outside of their normal job duties. I believe this is more common with those who have been with a company longer than most.
Leadership doesn’t always have to be related to work it can also relate to personal life. You can be considered a good leader at school. Many courses consist of doing group work occasionally where a member or members of the group help lead others, so that work is completed correctly and on time. True leaders treat everyone with respect and values others. If you believe that to be a leader you must be a manager and refuse to help lead others without having a management role, then you may not be the best leader in my book.

SUBJECT:Despite the prominence of The Northwood Idea, both in and out of the university, many contend that the “freedom philosophy” is more thought or wish than reality. What do you think? Is The Northwood Idea real or is it imagined?
3. respond toRichard Whelan
I feel that “The Northwood Idea” is reality based off of imagination of a board that believes students of northwood should be held accountable and display core values that will help us all become better leaders, not just students obtaining higher education. To some it may be a imagined, but my thought is you must have an imagination in order to break through glass ceilings to discover the new reality. We as humans are very capable of that and if we are chalenged we tend to embrace the change,
4. respond to Jacob
I think both in and out of the university the “freedom philosophy” and The Northwood Idea are real. Freedom is what our country was built on, thus the reason why so many people are still coming to the United States today, leaving countries that do not have individual freedoms. Judeo- Christian ethics, emphasis on work and thrift, and business are what makes society work. Although some people may think it is imagined, without individual responsibility, moral law, and respect for property there would be chaos. The emphasis on work and thrift and the importance of business has helped develop who we are today, building strong character traits and trust in each other.
