Consider a specific environmental policy that has already been implemented such as ITQs (individual take quotas in fisheries) or mandatory green belts in areas of high-density development urban zoning (you are not limited to these examples). What types of information, including economic, would you need to acquire, and how might you obtain it in order to determine how effective that policy has been? What method(s) might be useful in investigating the specific environmental policy you chose? Pick two sources from the “Sample Sources for Comparing Different Evaluations of Environmental Policies” (see Reading Tab) and discuss how that source might evaluate the success of the policy.

(Think critically about this as it may not be as obvious as it first seems.) Should there be a reduction in the use of plastic bags? What evidence do you base your decision on? How could you include the public in determining if these policies have been effective?
