While Americans are guaranteed civil liberties in our Bill of Rights, what you will come to understand is that no right is absolute.  There are always limitations to our rights.  These limitations exist because sometimes there are societal interests that are deemed more important than the given right in certain circumstances that need to be upheld.  If we pursued the right completely it would undermine those societal interests.

One heated battle over where our right to privacy begins and ends is dealing with the issue of abortion.  The right for women to obtain an abortion in America has been heavily contested ever since it was interpreted as a constitutional right in Roe v. Wade (1973).

So here is the question:  Do you think a right to an abortion should constitute a right to privacy or should this be restricted (if not prohibited) due to other societal interests and/or other rights that are deemed more important to uphold?   Explain why you hold the position that you do, and provide at least one piece of evidence to support your position.
