During Week 4 (Unit IV), you are required to submit an Article Critique. This assignment will repeat itself in Week 8 (Unit VIII). The instructions for this Article Critique are found in Unit IV of Syllabus. Whereas our class is predominately Occupational Safety & Health folks it will be necessary to open up the list of possible article sources, i.e. magazines, journals, and professional studies.

You are required to follow all rules and regulations relative to researching, analyzing, and composing your Critique Paper.

The basics of this paper are: APA 6th Edition compliant, 1 inch margins, Times New Roman size 12 font, double line spacing, not more than two (2) full pages of text, proper APA formatted in-text and reference citations, and without spelling and grammar errors. This is expected to be a professional college level paper.

 

Unit IV Article Critique

 

The purpose of this assignment is to investigate professional journals in the field of fire prevention of interest to you. The objective of your critique is to find an article and compare the information in the article to what you have been learning in class. Critique the article in terms of how the information within the article supports or disproves material that you have learned in this course. Please include the following topics in your critique of the selected article:

 

  • A brief introduction and overview of the article
  • A description of how the article either supports or disproves material in the course
  • Your point of view
  • A summarization of your thoughts and suggestions in support of your opinion

 

 

The selected article should not be more than four years old. The completed assignment shall be a minimum of two (2) full pages of text; however, not more than three (3) full pages. Additionally, include a Cover Page containing only the paper title, student name, and university name (centered on page)and a References Page, both of which are not included as part of the pages of text. The University requires that students use the APA format in writing course papers, therefore the APA rules for formatting, quoting, paraphrasing, citing, and listing of sources must be followed.
