Suppose that you owned a vehicle that you loved so much you decided to name it Buddy. Over time, you replaced each of Buddy’s parts until none of the original parts remained on the vehicle. Would your vehicle still be the same one you originally purchased? Now, suppose that you took all the original parts (you kept them for sentimental value) and made a second vehicle. Which vehicle would be Buddy? Why? Explain in about 200-300 words.
Now, suppose (as is true, I think) that none of the cells in your body today were present in you ten years ago. The cells that made up your body ten years ago gradually died off and were replaced by new cells. Suppose also that scientists could somehow track down every molecule from every cell that constituted your body ten years ago and reform them exactly as they were, thus making a living human being. Would that human being be you? (A duplicate you, perhaps, but still you?) Would it be a different person? What makes you, you? Explain. Present specific reasons for your answers. Your initial post should be about 400-600 words.
