present and defend your view on one of the philosophical issue: What is the nature of morality?
paper should be between four and six pages in length
Directions:
essay must interact with at least two philosophers: David Hume and Louis Pojman
Introduction
Your essay should have an introduction. Your introduction needs to do at least two things. First, it needs to give a clear statement of the view you wish to defend in the essay. Second, your introduction needs to say how you will go about defending your view. In effect, your introduction will be providing a road map of sorts that you will follow for the rest of the essay.
Body Paragraphs
Each body paragraph should have a specific job to do, such as explaining your position, presenting certain aspects of your argument, responding to an objection, and so forth. Further, your body paragraphs should be organized so that they follow the “road map” you provided in the introduction. A good way of ensuring that you do this is to write the body paragraphs first, then write your introduction.
Conclusion
Your conclusion paragraph should do two things. First, it should briefly indicate what you take yourself to have accomplished in the essay. Second, your conclusion should suggest some of the broader implications of your view. In effect, you will be addressing the hypothetical audience member who says, “Okay, so you’ve convinced me of your view on this topic. So what? Why should we care?”
