Scenario: WIRETIME, Inc. (Steve and Walter)
Discuss any liability BUGusa, Inc., may have for Walter’s actions.
Walter the security guard at BUGusa Inc. held Steve against his will for six hours and threatened physical harm to him. During this time Walter questioned Steve about what information he had passed to WIRETIME Inc. In doing this Water committed false imprisonment on Steve. One thing “employers should bear in mind that an employer is liable for false imprisonment based on the actions of its employees—even if those employees had no authority to act or abused their authority in engaging in such actions “(Logan, Mayer, & Sandler, 2001, pg.1). Because Water in an employee of BUGusa Inc. it makes the company liable for Walter’s actions.
