Discussion Board.
On Presidents Day in February 2015, I (Professor) responded to a train derailment in Mt. Carbon, WV to provide on-site Health & Safety support for the responders, firefighters, and community citizens. This is a very interesting aspect of Industrial Hygiene. Not only was I (Professor) using my training in regards to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of health hazards for my Haz-Mat team, I was responsible for providing fact-based information to assist the Fire Chief and his Site Safety Officer. In addition, I was on the phone several times with the State Health Department explaining what might be in the smoke from the fire that might impact the surrounding community.
