For the fourth and final reading report, the assignment focuses on the case study contained within Chapter 10, “System Failure: The Response to Hurricane Katrina”.
For this assignment, after reading the chapter and the case study, you should write a short report addressing the following:
1. A brief synopsis of the chain of events involving Hurricane Katrina, from lead up to the storm to “final” recovery efforts;
2. A brief analysis of the criticism of the response efforts; and
3. A brief statement of your assessment of which level(s) of government performed adequately, if any, and which levels failed in their response.
Don’t forget to adhere to all writing guidelines (refer back to the syllabus if you need more information) and to turn in your assignment on time!
